About me
My life embodies the transformative power of God's grace and the truth that no one is beyond His reach. From the depths of heroin addiction and militant atheism to becoming a beacon of hope in recovery ministry, my journey demonstrates that God doesn't call the qualified – He qualifies the called.
After spending years in the grip of opioid addiction, including time at The Bartlett House homeless shelter in Morgantown, West Virginia, I experienced a profound encounter with God's grace that changed everything. Now celebrating seven years of sobriety, I serve as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Professional and Chemical Dependency Counselor, using my past struggles to help others find freedom from addiction.
My testimony is particularly powerful for those who doubt God's ability to transform lives. As a former militant atheist who actively worked to undermine others' faith, I now stand as a passionate advocate for Christian apologetics and the rational foundations of belief. My unique perspective allows me to connect deeply with skeptics and those who feel they're beyond redemption.
In addition to my work in addiction recovery, I am actively involved in outreach ministry, speaking at churches, schools, and recovery programs across the country. I bring particular insight to:
- Recovery Ministry: Integrating faith-based approaches with evidence-based recovery practices
- Apologetics: Engaging with skeptics and atheists from a place of understanding
- Trauma Recovery: Understanding the intersection of past trauma, addiction, and spiritual healing
- Outreach: Reaching the homeless and addicted populations with Christ's love
- Family Restoration: Rebuilding relationships damaged by addiction
- Prison Ministry: Supporting those impacted by the criminal justice system
Having experienced God's restoration in my own life, I speak with authority about God's power to make all things new. My story reminds us that the depths of addiction are not deeper than God's grace, and the walls of atheism are not stronger than His love.
Whether you're involved in recovery ministry, apologetics, outreach to the marginalized, or simply want to understand how to better reach those struggling with addiction and doubt, you'll find my experience and insights valuable. I am particularly passionate about helping other ministries develop effective strategies for reaching those who feel furthest from God's love.
